Duties & Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for providing design, application, installation, and commissioning support for HVAC systems supplied by Comfort Engineering Systems (CES), a division of Young Supply Company (YSC), to the consulting engineering bid/spec and design/build communities.
- Provide technical sales support on product specification, layout, design, application, and installation of CES/YSC Commercial Applied Products. Applied product vendors include, but are not limited to: LG VRF and DFS systems, Rheem Residential & Commercial HVAC products, CaptiveAire Ventilation Products, TACO Hydronics, Watts Radiant, Innotech Building Automation, and Burnham/HTP boilers.
- Conduct and generate technical design, application and installation training on product specification, layout, design, and application to support sales team.
- Using YSC GUI system to prepare estimates, quotes, product proposals, and cost benefits as needed.
- Assist CES Outside Sales Engineers, architects/consulting engineers, and design/build contractors with layout and design of HVAC systems.
- Assist consulting engineers and design/build contractors in determining optimal equipment needs based on building heating and cooling loads.
- Review project design/layout drawings as required with consulting engineers, contractors, and customers as needed.
- Interface with CES Outside Sales Engineers and YSC Territory Managers to ensure proper product application and code compliance.
- Interface with CES/YSC’s vendors and factory support personnel to assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, such as design basics, application notes, and white papers to support current industry engineering and specifying activities.
- Interface with CES/YSC team members on a continuous basis to ensure all customer expectations and requests are being met regarding product application & installation information.
- Run and audit manufacturer’s proprietary software tools to aid in the system design in terms of mechanical and electrical layout, including energy modeling.
- Survey and analyze competitive products for consultation with other CES/YSC employees.
- Interface with Property Owners, Facility Managers, Building Managers, Engineers, Architects, and Contractors on technical issues as needed.
- Attend site visits with CES/YSC staff, as needed, before, during, and after equipment installation and commissioning.
- Develop ongoing relationships with CES/YSC staff and key customers.
- Work with installing mechanical/controls contractors to provide any and all required documentation during and after project completion for proper close-out.
Other Roles & Functions:
- Various support functions relating to specific sales activities and opportunities.
- Other tasks and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree in mechanical or HVAC engineering preferred.
- Three years minimum experience in HVACR engineering with VRF/VRV product application experience
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Strong computer skills required, especially with Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Trane Trace preferred.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills.
- Customer service minded and solutions oriented.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of problems and personalities, while continuing to promote a professional and pleasant demeanor.
- Team-oriented and self-motivated.
Preferred:
- Five years minimum experience in HVACR engineering with VRF/VRV product application experience
- Prefer knowledge of national, state, and local building codes as they pertain to the HVACR industry
- Prefer LEED AP accreditation or experience in the LEED certification process
