About the Role
The Performance Specialist is an exciting role for any growth geek seeking the opportunity to help both Australian and international SaaS startups and scaleups to solve genuine and meaningful problems at vital milestones of their growth curve.
The role combines both thinking and doing, allowing the Performance Specialist to strategise and execute on their strategy, with the support of the broader team. On any given day you will be diving into data to identify new opportunities or areas of under-performance in attracting visitors to our customers' websites or digital assets. With strong, reliable data in hand, the Performance Specialist provides recommendations to the Account Manager for customer endorsement. From there, the Performance Specialist goes about configuring or updating dashboards to support the agreed activity.
In terms of teamwork, the Performance Specialist collaborates closely with the Account Manager, Conversion Specialist, Marketing Coordinator, and the broader team to design an acquisition strategy that is unique and highly relevant to the customers' audiences, business models, and desired outcomes.
We practice extreme ownership at Y&C. The Performance Specialist is the owner of all things paid acquisition —including implementation of the tactics we employ, standards we keep across the organisation, and the technology that we recommend and maintain to support our efforts. There’s also opportunity to collaborate on other traffic sources i.e. organic and referral. A minimum 2 years' experience in PPC and a natural spreadsheet user are a good start.
To be successful for the role, you will be an experienced acquisition professional and have performed a similar role within either an agency or client-side environment. You have sound experience building and optimising campaigns, and you are an analytical, pragmatic thinker who knows your way around a variety of third-party tools.
Areas of Responsibility
- Manage budget and performance of up to $50k per month of variable (paid) marketing spend;
- Work with Marketing Coordinator to review configuration and results of paid campaigns;
- Paid dashboard management and optimisation would consist of 30-35% of the role;
- Own the PPC activity across the range of Google products;
- Build and execute PPC (Google Ads & Bing) campaigns, utilising search, shopping, GDN, YouTube, etc.;
- Build and execute PPC (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) campaigns utilising different types of ad formats;
- Collaborate with the Conversion and Lifecycle Specialist to ensure alignment of macro and micro objectives for customers;
- Maintain a clear record of all activity to rationalise future recommendations;
- Offer support to Account Managers in shaping customer strategy and management of customer expectations;
- Own reporting and provide insightful commentary;
- Work closely with the creative team to ensure the creative developed is optimal;
- Work with first party data to create targeted audiences;
- Propose and execute new ideas, run tests, innovate, make mistakes, and learn; and
- Keeping on top of and exploiting new features, trends and technologies.
