Regulatory Affairs Lead

Xwing is seeking a hands-on entrepreneurial regulatory lead to bring Xwing’s vision to reality. You will head Regulatory Affairs for Xwing, representing the company at various regulatory bodies such as FAA, EASA, and others. You will be the interface and the voice of Xwing’s world-class engineering team in autonomous air transportation with regulators and standard-writing committees. Responsibilities, title, and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

  • Work across the organization to develop our regulatory strategy and priorities
  • Represent Xwing with the FAA and other regulatory agencies and build relationships
  • Advance Xwing’s interests by participating in committees (RTCA, ASTM, etc) to define standards, minimum performance levels, means of compliance, and requirements for various aspects of autonomous flight, including detect-and-avoid
  • Draft, update, and maintain regulatory documents as needed
  • Define ConOps for Xwing's operations and provide regulatory paths to achieving Xwing's mission
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation (primarily FAA, EASA)
  • Interface with engineering team to ensure technology compliance

Required qualifications:
  • Self-starter, autonomous, and out-of-the box thinker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience and track record in aviation / aerospace Regulatory Affairs
  • Deep aviation regulation knowledge, especially FAA part 23, 61, 91, 135
  • Experience with at least one ASTM or RTCA committee
  • Experience in obtaining airworthiness certificate for non-conventional or novel products

Desirable qualifications:
  • Experience with autonomous / highly automated systems
  • Strong knowledge of the FAA as organization with personal relationships
  • Experience certifying / bringing to the aerospace market a new product that required modification to existing regulations
  • A legal background and/or proven understanding of aviation law is a strong plus
