Lab Technician / Chemist (Entry level)

  • Environmental laboratory in Midland is looking for an entry-level analytical Chemist. 24 hours of Chemistry credits preferable.  
    • Test soil and water according to EPA, ASTM and Standard Methods. 
    • Document measurements of samples and Quality Control in logbooks 
    • Data entry into the laboratory’s LIMS database. 
    • Calibrate meters, thermometers and volumetric pipets. 
    • Maintain stock of laboratory chemicals and consumables. 
    • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to regulation and testing requirements; advising management on needed actions. 
    • Maintains and improves quality results by developing and completing quality assurance tests; following and enforcing standards; studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes. 
    • Ensures operation of analytical equipment by calibrating equipment; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. 
    • Keeps chemical supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. 
    • Other duties assigned
     
    Requirements: This job requires the ability to communicate proficiently in English, orally and in writing, self-reliance, critical thinking and the ability to multitask, work under pressure and high attention to detail. Employment is at-will and all new employees will sign an employment agreement.
