Senior Studio Specialist

General Position Summary:
The Senior Studio Specialist works in conjunction with the Design & Print Producers, Creatives and Retouchers to add value to design deliverables in one or more of the following ways: project management on large scale projects, pre-press and printing knowledge, retouching images, generating custom fonts, digital photography or 3-D skills for comp work or final production.

Major Responsibilities/Primary Functions:
  • Have a production point of view on projects of all sizes and the ability to communicate that to Design Producers and team
  • Exhibit leadership for technical aspects of production on large ongoing projects. Maintain consistency and streamline production process by creating templates, libraries, and additional support materials
  • Develops and implements procedures to improve the Design Studio’s delivery workflow within the agency
  • Scanning, digital photography and image manipulation for comp work, new business pitches or for other needs
  • Hand skills: trimming and mounting, sketching and drawing
  • Experience in building detailed mechanicals for print, OOH and collateral to W+K quality standards
  • Organize sand archive files per W+K standards
  • Creates multiple solutions for a given brief
  • Aids Art Director to implement a visual concept through final production
  • Generates concepts for projects and designs extensions for a campaign when requested
  • Designs and executes print ads, brochures, booklets, outdoor, spectaculars, pop's, direct mail, leave behinds, ad kits, logos etc
  • Designs presentation materials for new business pitches
  • Follow directions and ability to listen and receive constructive feedback
  • Leads other Designers on large scale projects to achieve desired outcome
  • Uses experience, resources, and other departments within the agency to find solutions and solve problems
  • Accountable for staying within production budgets for time and materials as provided by Creative Manager
  • Prioritizes schedule of simultaneous projects for successful outcome
  • Maintains consistency in file folder naming conventions per W+K standards on Design Studio server

Qualifications, Distinguishing Characteristics and Special Requirements: 
  • BA, BFA or BS in Graphic Design is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of production and design experience in an agency environment
  • Advanced computer knowledge/experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs on the Mac: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Advanced Typography skills - designing type layout, fitting body copy, and strong kerning skills.
  • Adobe Acrobat - creating and editing pdf files
  • Must be willing to learn prepress software (Full Press) to output final high-res digital files, asset management software (WebNative), and operation of Kodak proofer to output color proofs
  • Natural ability to think on your feet and perform the impossible.Manage stress and adversity in a positive, constructive manner
  • Ability to work independently to see projects through to final delivery with an emphasis on quality
  • Exhibits teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness 
  • Ability to be patient and tenacious with crisis situations and tight deadlines
  • Some evening and weekend work required
