VacationRenter was born inside Wilbur Labs, a San Francisco-based startup studio. Founded by ex-Googlers, VacationRenter uses automation and AI to help travelers find the perfect vacation rental.

About This Role
VacationRenter is growing extremely fast and we are looking for a content leader to own all content and public relations for VacationRenter as we establish ourselves as the number one vacation rental search engine. In this role you will build content roadmaps, publish high quality articles, and lead our press strategy for distribution. This role will be expected to both think strategically as well as execute at a high level. In this role, you will work closely with leadership to build VacationRenter into a thought leader in the space.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Own content strategy roadmapping from concept to rollout
  • Own public relations distribution strategy and execution
  • Lead relationships with content & PR partners, agencies, and writers
  • Write and edit high quality content
  • Define brand voice/tone and our editorial approach
  • Obsess about the traveler journey and the areas where VacationRenter can inspire
  • Develop personas for targeted content development 
  • Identify and stay informed on trends in travel
  • Analyze performance to optimize content around what is important to travelers 
  • Develop key performance indicators to determine what success looks like
  • Develop relationships with journalists and identify new opportunities for partnerships

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of content management or related field experience
  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data
  • Self-starter who will thrive in an ambiguous startup environment
  • Strong attention to detail and highly adaptable 
  • Experience with the public relations distribution process and working with press teams 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior experience developing content in the travel industry or at an early stage company
  • Proficiency in Wordpress and associated plugins
  • Strong media relationships 
  • Prior experience with SEO
  • Strong excel skills
