As a Director of Firmware at WHOOP, you’ll lead and continue to build a talented Firmware & Embedded team responsible for building the WHOOP strap, a low powered, highly durable device that’s made to continuously monitor users who range from elite athletes to fitness enthusiasts. The ideal candidate will leverage a firmware and/or embedded background to manage an experienced team to success, while acting as a cross functional hub in our start-up like environment. You will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer to continue to innovate on the WHOOP strap and work on building new and exciting technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, manage, and lead Firmware team to success.
- Recruit awesome engineers and help them achieve great feats.
- Own the firmware roadmap by working closely with the Product and other technical teams to define features and specifications based on the company’s vision, user feedback, and market opportunities.
- Work collaboratively in a startup environment across high performing technical teams including Hardware, Digital Signal Processing, Product, Data Science, Software, and Marketing to deliver a best in class product to consumers. You will be the go-to person for all firmware related questions, issues, suggestions, and feedback.
- Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and directly contribute to the code base if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Manager or Director level Embedded Firmware professional, ideally from the consumer electronics space, with experience managing talented, experienced engineers.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems engineering, ideally with management/leadership in a consumer facing business environment
- Experience managing and scaling a world class team.
- Strong curiosity resulting in constant learning of new things.
- Strong communication skills to both technical and non-technical team members.
- Experience with embedded technologies relevant to our Firmware architecture at WHOOP preferred (ARM M4, BLE, etc)
