Under direction of the Production Supervisor, the Production Technician is trained on, and responsible for all aspects of the production cycle. Daily duties could include tasks in Pre-production, Start Team or Harvest Team. It is the responsibility of the Production Technician to follow all established SOPs and propagate yeast according to the production schedule.
-Utilizes autoclave to ensure required materials and equipment are sterilized and ready to use when needed.
-Responsible for transportation of materials between the production and cold storage rooms.
-Assembles and fills vessels in accordance with SOPs.
-Samples, tests gravity and pitches yeast into vessels.
-Participates in daily cleaning routine of production work space.
-Performs steam sanitization of process piping (SIP).
-Utilizes lab centrifuge in order to obtain accurate cell counts.
-Calibrates and ensures accuracy of Clean Room equipment including scale and PH probe.
-Operates the Harvest Sealer and creates QC packs for testing.
-Responsible for proper labeling and storage of finished harvested yeast.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-1+ year of applicable experience. Clean room experience a plus.
-Knowledge of aseptic technique a plus.
-Ability to read and follow SOPs required.
Medium work: Employee may, or may not, have a workstation or office. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 25%. Requires walking, standing and/or driving for more than 75% of the workday. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work environment is wet/humid and position may encounter hot/cold conditions.
