Title: Maintenance/Automation Technician
Maintenance/Automation Technician Essential responsibilities and duties
The main missions of the role are to:
o Install, repair and maintain all equipment and facilities
o Analyse mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality
o Validate equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime
o Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records
o Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production, perform scheduled maintenance
o Participate in Production Ssystem Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement: propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities
o Facilitate equipment moves on the shop floor
o Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met
o Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime
o Keep up to date documentation related to maintenance
o Train operators on the safe operation of production equipment
o Perform a start of shift safety sign-off to ensure that all safety features on assigned equipment are operational
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Minimum education level: Technical diploma, preferably with a specialisation in maintenance
Experience:
o At least 3 years of maintenance/engineering experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment
o Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety or complexity which require an extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment
Skills and competencies:
o Strong electrical industrial troubleshooting experience
o Experience with PLCs, Allen Bradley RS500 and RS5000
o Strong mechanics aptitude
o Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
o Pneumatic troubleshooting and repair
o Working knowledge of Quality system and Health, Safety and Environment skills
o Strong technical problem solving skills
o Strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
o Ability to work in a matrix organisation
o Willing and able to work overtime (Come in early, stay late, weekends, as required)
o Knowledge of Motoman NX and DX controllers programming an asset.
