Creative Director

We are working with a global design business to find a Creative Director who can deliver exceptional creative for key clients in their rapidly growing New York office.
 
You will be critical to the development of the team and ensure the agency retains, develops and continues to attract the very best design talent. You will be empowered to make the big decisions, as such they are looking for someone with boundless energy, enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit, strong people management skills and an ever-present desire to push the boundaries of great design. 
 
The Function of the Role:
 
  • Responsible for all creative output of the studio and drive the business to continually raise the creative benchmark of the agency.
  • Develop long-term client partnerships, through exceptional creative output, leading to the growth of the business, both organically and through new business opportunities.
  • Hire, nurture, inspire and challenge the creative team to perform to their potential, providing clear and inspirational, strategic creative direction in order to get to less, better work that raises the creative benchmark.
  • Set the vision for the Design team and shapes the team through recruitment, development and training.
  • Responsible for actively managing the studio culture – including the type of work, the people, the team morale.
  • Proactively seek out the right creative opportunities for new clients and brands both with the design team and the rest of the business to push the creative output of the business.
  • Builds long-term client partnerships, sharing the responsibility for the health of brand and business.
  • Continually keep abreast of what is happening in the design industry and share those findings with the wider business.
 
The skills and experience needed:
 
  • You will have an ability to look beyond the brief, to seek out creative, effective and appropriate solutions that maximise profit and help to secure new work and clients.
  • You will be an excellent listener, great communicator and have a strong sense of personal responsibility for the work you and your team produce.
  • Ensure the continuous professional development and wellbeing of the design team.
  • Work with the management team to develop the long-term strategy for the business.
  • Ability to be hands-on and billable on client work as maintaining an active role in the management team.
  • You will have a proven track record of large-scale branding and design projects with the ability to think how this can fit across all channels.
  • As an experienced Creative Director, you should have a relevant design degree, an award-winning portfolio that demonstrates an ability to think intellectually about design problems and clearly demonstrates your ability to flex an idea across the different channels of a brand.
