Associate will be responsible for managing the Innovation Awards Program Initiative.  Will be working with academic institutions participating in the initiative as well as project and management teams units. This position has dual reporting to the Head of NA ;R&D Alliance Management and to the Head of NA Strategic Initiatives; ScientificRelations.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate processes that lead to the selection of proposals for funding create and circulate agendas for meetings, take minutes, circulate the minutes for member review and approval, and circulate final minutes,
  • Work with our internal core team and Institution’s technology licensing office to check proposals for third party conflicts and relevant background intellectual property
  • Closely work with their manager and project teams to manage all funded projects and ensure adequate interactions with academic collaborators
  • Write monthly newsletter to give program updates
  • Manage all contractual aspects of the awards including management of invoices and payments
  • Manage all contractual aspects of SRAs such as initiating discussions with the appropriate people potential needs for CDAs, ensuring compliance with the existing and future agreements, ensuring respecting deadlines, milestones and payments etc.

Skills:

  • Position requires hands on experience project management in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. 
  • Strong coordination and conflict resolution skills and scientific background are essential. 
  • Highly motivated, results driven and well organized with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex matrix environment. 
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and proactive problem solving skills and have demonstrated ability to build strong trusting relationships with external and internal partners

Duties:

  • Reporting to the Strategic Initiatives team in the US, manage a multi-institutional academic collaboration program
  • Will be working with core team composed of individuals from alliance management, contracting, legal, patent; finance and communication departments to ensure the program moves forward in a timely way
  • Lead the call for proposal, sharing the proposals with internal therapeutic area teams and co-ordinate the review and selection of proposals for funding
  • Organize the Joint Scientific Steering Committee to select proposals
  • Place all information related to the program in the Sharepoint site
  • Work with project champions for the funded projects and ensure adequate interactions with academic investigators
  • Provide timely meeting minutes to the project teams
  • Coordinate with European counterparts to adapt best practices
  • Write monthly newsletter about the program for the senior leadership
  • Travel to meet with our academic across North America regularly to gather project updates and resolve any scientific and management issues
