Senior Software Engineer - API

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer who knows how to design and deliver awesome software.  You will be a key player in a highly engaged team in a supportive environment helping other engineers do their best work.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the entire life cycle of an application to include analysis, coding, testing, and documentation. You will partner with team mates and management to help design, build and maintain products and features to be used by internal and external customers.  This is a fast paced, dynamic environment filled with exciting opportunities to make a difference.

We’re looking for people with a background and interest in building successful products or systems, comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces, have amazing attention to detail, and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and systems.
You will:
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems consumed by internal and external customers.
  • Build integrations with major Vetsource business partners.
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
  • Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
  • Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale

  • Highly proficient in Java as well as frameworks like Mule ESB
  • Experience consuming and developing REST API’s
  • Comfortable learning new languages, frameworks, and tools
  • Extensive experience using relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Highly proficient in Java as well as frameworks like Mule ESB
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and asynchronous architectures
  • Solid understanding of relational database modeling and design, including experience building data-intensive applications
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills, and a belief that team output is more important than individual output
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback in a professional manner
  • Must be able to use sound judgement and know when to ask for assistance

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field; or related work experience
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in software development, computer engineering, or other related fields
  • Knowledge of Java, Adobe Flex, Groovy or other programming languages
