About the Role
Our award winning design team is looking to expand the team by adding a talented Junior Industrial Designer. We are a multi-disciplinary team consisting of visual media, web development, packaging design, communication design, and industrial design. You will assist our Industrial Designers with end-to-end design process, bringing our brands to life in creatively interesting ways. Our Junior Industrial Designer will have the ability to impact each and every product we create and help build holistic product experiences that improve our customers daily life across the three brands within the Very Great family.
The role is based in NYC and reports into the Lead Industrial Designer and Lead Creative Strategist.
Responsibilities
- Assist our growing Industrial Design team in the end-to-end creation of new consumer products and experiences
- Produce high quality design, concepting, sketching, modeling and renderings
- Knowledge and understanding of best-practices in the product development process, continuously sharing insights and recommendations on manufacturing and overseas factories
- Assist in maintaining our current library of products, and update designs according to customer feedback
- Work closely with our Creative Operations team to update project status and needs
- Collaborate with Industrial Design team to build and iterate prototypes and mockups of concepts (Rapid prototyping, 3D printing, etc)
- Participate in team-wide design initiatives across all brands and product lines
About You
- At least 1 year of experience in the design field (relevant internship experience included)
- Production CAD experience, with the ability to review models from our factories and communicate edits verbally and in 3D. (Rhino/Solidworks preferred)
- Experience creating photo-real renders (Keyshot/Vray/Octane)
- Excellent portfolio showing unique thought processes and a strong point-of-view in product design
- Ability to work well and adapt in a growing cross-disciplinary design team
- Effectively communicates through visual representation of your ideas – whether it’s sketching, quick renders, or written feedback
- Ability to identify problems and propose sustainable solutions in a quick and
efficient manner - Awareness of current trends in consumer packaged goods and a keen eye for upcoming trends
- Comfortable with the Adobe product suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Knowledge of materials, design production, and other techniques for manufacturing
- Demonstrates excellent time management skills and accountability for one’s work
- Excited to continue honing your skill in the end-to-end process of designing products
