Would you like to begin your career in IT/Telecoms with one of the UK's fastest growing companies? Would you like the chance to train with an award-winning technical customer service team and gain an industry recognised level 3 qualification in IT and Telecoms – then we’d love you to come and join our team!
About the role
We’re looking for people to join an Institute of Learning Management (ILM) accredited level 3 IT, Web and Telecommunications apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will last around 18 months and will be a blended training and development programme and be supported by the world's largest technical training provider - GK Associates.
Your day to day role will be to build brand loyalty by taking ownership of technical issues and providing consistently unique customer experiences. You’ll speak to around 30 customers a day, providing solutions on our Home Phone, Broadband, Fibre and Mobile products - using some of the newest technologies on the market. This will include:
- Dealing with issues relating to ADSL, FTTC, wireless and basic networking skills (IP addressing, DNS etc.).
- Learning to use the art of questioning to identify problems such as ADSL, FTTC, PSTN, wireless and e-mail setup issues.
- Troubleshooting PSTN faults like no dial tone or noisy lines.
- Learning to set up and troubleshoot wired or wireless broadband connections.
- Troubleshooting and providing solutions on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, including 802.11 G, N and AC routers.
- Working with Android, IOS and Windows operating systems.
- Looking to resolve any issues with 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks.
- Learning how to understand Broadband networking (Copper/Fibre) and Voice (Digital lines/VOIP).
You won't have to be a total technical guru or have lots of industry experience to join this apprenticeship. You'll learn everything you need to become part of our award-winning technical team - and our caring, supportive training team will support you to understand how our services and technology works.
When you join us, you’ll receive a six weeks of training on how our services work, and how to troubleshoot effectively. After this you’ll join our technical academy and work with some of our most experienced technical coaches and advisors; who will help you evolve into fully fledged Technical Advisor and become a desirable talent in the industry.
The key thing we’re looking for is people who genuinely enjoy providing excellent customer service; have a real passion and enthusiasm for all things technical; the willingness to learn and most meaningfully a "can-do attitude".
You’ll also need to be eligible to live and work in the UK.
What we offer
Your starting salary will be £18,500 and you’ll receive an increase of up to £1,500 each time you hit one of two milestones in our programme. Once you have completed the programme you’ll receive another uplift in salary to £23,000! And that’s not all, you’ll earn monthly bonuses too – up to 10% of your salary. You’ll also benefit from 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), free parking, an annual salary review, share options, an additional Christmas Bonus, staff discount, subsidised canteen and much more!
We embrace both diversity and inclusivity. So, we’ve built a culture where everyone counts – one where you’ll feel valued and respected.
Who are we?
We are an award-winning, FTSE 250 multi-utility supplier with a unique route to market. What does ‘multi-utility supplier’ mean? We’re the only place you can get your Energy, Home Phone, Broadband and Mobile services, all bundled together.
Some people say that we're the biggest company you've never heard of. Unlike the big utility suppliers, we don't waste money on expensive advertising campaigns. Instead, we rely on happy customers telling their friends and family about how great we are!
You can leave corporate jargon at the door here at Utility Warehouse and just be yourself. If you want to join a business and team that celebrates you being your best self then we could be just what you are looking for too! We embrace both diversity and inclusivity. So, we’ve built a culture where everyone counts – one where you’ll feel valued and respected.
As an award-winning FTSE 250 company we offer stability, recognition and career progression. Unlike other large companies however, we continue to have a welcoming, family feel. That’s probably why lots of the team who joined us from the beginning are still here.
Our HQ is based in Colindale, Edgware. We have fantastic onsite facilities including a subsidised canteen, chill out areas and a very active social calendar. Whether you fancy joining our CEO Andrew Lindsay for breakfast to find out more about what’s going on at UW or you fancy joining some colleagues for a movie night screening in our auditorium – there is something for everyone!
