Utility Business Development

Job Description
The Utility Business Development position will create business opportunities with utility IT organizations and work to obtain direct data connections with utilities (electric, as well as gas and water). In this role, you will act as bridge between utilities and Urjanet development and operations and manage day-to-day issues as they arise with utilities.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience selling to utilities
  • Background in technology sales
  • Has established relationships in their network
  • Strong business development background in utility sales
  • Sold to IT / billing departments within utilities
  • Has a track record of getting and completing projects with utilities
  • Manage multiple projects and network communications
  • Comfort with cross-functional influence and interaction (sales, development, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (Salesforce.com preferred)
  • Data or energy experience

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Implement fast, secure, and accurate methods for directly connecting to utility data
  • Make material progress against a list of target utilities
  • Develop and executing a sales plan and a project plan
  • Navigate utilities to build trust and credibility, and demonstrate value with decision makers and influencers
  • Communicate Urjanet’s value proposition in written and oral forms
  • Present an ROI-based solution which addresses the customer’s business objectives
  • Manage the sales process with the use of phone, web, and other inside sales tools
  • Meet and exceed individual monthly goals for pipeline growth and bookings
