Our new Controls Engineer will work closely with other members of the engineer team as well as the operations/installation crew, the company’s owner, other members of the leadership team and office staff. Universal Controls, LLC designs and installs custom automated environmental control systems for CO 2 enrichment, full environmental control, irrigation and nutrient control, and automated extraction for the cannabis industry, as well as, beverage monitoring. Automation Controls Drafter Description
This position is responsible for revising existing drawings and preparing drawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. This position successfully plots drawings; learns and follows company and client drafting standards and procedures; learns the practices of a selected discipline. Other duties as assigned.

Work closely with the Engineers, Technicians and all Staff to complete design work to specifications
Collaborates to improve Universal Controls, LLC’s Installation and fabrication manufacturing operations.
Maximize productivity and maintain the highest levels of workmanship for all activities.
Assist in coordinating resources within the fabrication operations ensuring that health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to. Implement and maintain a production planning system.
Help to ensure that the Engineer shop/department is operating efficiently, cost effectively and that all target dates are met.
Undertake continuous training and development
Work with Engineering Shop on workflow process as outlined in job responsibilities.
Learn professional email drafting techniques, outline a naming convention & workflow for client correspondence and file tracking.
knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe preferred but not a must
Must comply with all company safety policies at all times
Completes required subordinate evaluations and provides timely and appropriate feedback
Keep all staff informed of all changes or impacts to project
Communicate with all staff so they are aware of material onsite or back ordered
Provide office with all required documentation in a timely manner
Study and evaluate blueprints and spec book as well as tracking changes

Qualifications
High school diploma and course work in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification. Associate's degree in computer aided drafting and design desirable. Entry-level position (zero to two years of professional drafting experience). Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred. Mastered basic commands of at least one type of CAD system (ability to occasionally use higher-level commands, time saving programs and routines).
