Universal Controls, LLC designs and installs custom automated environmental control systems for CO 2 enrichment, full environmental control, irrigation and nutrient control, and automated extraction for the cannabis industry, as well as, beverage monitoring. Controls Technician Job Description:
Collaborates to improve Universal Controls, LLC’s Installation and fabrication manufacturing operations.
Works with the team to organize daily operations. Collaborate with Principal, Controls Engineer(s), Senior Controls Technician, Director of Business development and all other Staff.
Building maintenance, tool maintenance and tracking, job; install box and install catalog.
Document tools, parts, equipment and or job install box. Perform installations for all and any capacity. Travel will be required.
Maximize productivity and maintain the highest levels of workmanship for all activities.
Assist in coordinating resources within the fabrication operations ensuring that health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to. Implement and maintain a production planning system.
Receive building mechanical drawings, attain appropriate measurements.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Help to ensure that the Engineer shop/department is operating efficiently, cost effectively and that all target dates are met.
Undertake continuous training and development.
Serve existing accounts by analyzing work orders; planning daily travel schedule; investigating complaints; conducting tests; resolving problems.
Establish service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering components and parts & completing installation.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Workflow process outlined for install(s) and fabrication shop.
Work with Engineering Shop on workflow process as outlined in job responsibilities.
Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. Collaborate with all staff on above documentation.
Learn professional email drafting techniques, outline a naming convention & workflow for client correspondence and file tracking.
knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe.
Must comply with all company safety policies at all times
Install, troubleshoot, repair and configure PLC systems
Plan control systems installations by surveying and evaluating location; identifying installation requirements; laying-out equipment and wiring plan
Verify PLC Control systems functioning by testing equipment, connections, and signals; identify and correct root cause problems
Completes required subordinate evaluations and provides timely and appropriate feedback
Communicate with Senior Operations Technician, Engineer, and others on frequent basis regarding the progress and coordination of the project to ensure the most efficient installation of electrical equipment possible
Keep all staff informed of all changes or impacts to project
Communicate with all staff so they are aware of material onsite or back ordered
Provide office with all required documentation in a timely manner
Study and evaluate blueprints and spec book as well as tracking changes.
Detail project completely prior to starting job
Be involved in all job-related meetings
Review and account for tasking and reporting
Available to work overtime and or/irregular business hours as requested. Travel 20%-50%
Ensure that all safety training is completed and properly documented
Attend in-house training
Learn troubleshooting on PLC control systems installed by Universal Controls, LLC.
Experience in commercial and industrial environments
Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written
Able to assertively address problems with appropriate parties as they arise in a professional manner
Can't be afraid of heights. Can learn quickly and isn't intimidated by new situations and things.
One to two years relevant experience.
