We work as a distributed team where the best ideas combine with unrivaled rigor to create a superior experience for on-demand platforms that hire a contingent workforce (think contractors) and for the 1099 workers that are looking for new opportunities.  As a Compliance Manager at Turn, you will be working closely with our Compliance team and will be responsible for defining and implementing compliance programs based on a framework of accountability. Role:
 
The Compliance Manager is responsible for managing and administering all elements of the employment screening and review processes, including the background check process of prospective workers for our on-demand partner platforms. This includes management of applicable vendors and downstream data partners as well as providing compliance insights into the development of new product offerings.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
·      Work with cross-functional groups to ensure reported information is sensible, accurate, and completed in a timely manner.
·      Monitor the turnaround times of all background checks initiated on our platform to ensure industry leading standards.
·      Review the disclosure and authorization process for all background checks to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
·      Review individual background reports for approval or escalation as needed.
·      Work with internal teams to assist with resolving discrepancies or to address any adverse action claims.
·      Provide recommendations to Management on how to improve internal processes with regards to FCRA compliance and privacy issues in accordance with changing regulatory climate.
·      Perform due diligence on partners and vendors.
·      Perform formal compliance reviews and risk assessments of new or enhanced product and service offerings.
 
Necessary skills, characteristics, and experience:
 
·      3-5 years’ experience in employment background administration; prior investigation skills is a plus.
·      Strong knowledge of FCRA is a must; familiarity with U.S. state compliance is a plus.
·      High discretion and judgement skill is a must.
·      Excellent research skills is a must (Investigative research or paralegal, experience a plus).
·      Ability to work under deadlines is a must (experience in production environment a plus).
·      Strong interest or experience in privacy and data protection principles.
·      Experience in project or program management.
·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
