VDC / BIM Project Manager (Denver, CO) 
The VDC Project Manager for the Trimble MEP Division is responsible for managing Virtual Design Construction projects to deliver exceptional results for our clients in parallel with developing new business opportunities with those same clients. The role requires a strong background in the MEP industry with hands on field and project management experience. This team member must be able to tightly manage and execute projects with a solid understanding of the business and profit margins. Specific Responsibilities

  • Be a relentlessly proactive Project Manager and execute projects in order to generate profit for Trimble
  • Manage cost throughout; including estimate preparation, technical estimating, valued engineering, life-cycle cost analysis and budget and financial management 
  • Study bid specs and drawings carefully, looking for potential issues before we ever start the job 
  • Develop detailed project coordination and baseline construction schedules
  • Proactively monitor the progress of the project through updated schedules
  • Ensure that the project quality control plan is in effect and followed
  • Develop contingency plans in advance – just in case an item on the critical path is delayed
  • Have and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the status of every project under your control
  • Resolve scope problems with clients or resource partners 
  • Develop solutions to make sure that issues never become problems
  • Work with Production and Resource Manager to deliver the highest possible quality and customer satisfaction
  • Effectively communicate with immediate team members, team members of MEP Contractors, General Contractors, specialty subcontractors, client managers, executives, customers and partners
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure that project invoices are submitted to clients in a timely manner, track payments and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Build long term relationships and be able to identify new opportunities while working with clients and prospects
  • Work closely with customers to identify and clarify important factors to focus on to fully meet customer expectations
  • Identifying construction project opportunities with current clients and new clients
  • Develop opportunities to leverage BIM/VDC to improve project performance, differentiate Trimble from our competitors and maximize project outcomes
  • Develop and/or lead the preparation and presentation of project proposals
  • Provide leadership to other team members in the company by displaying resourcefulness, self-starting work habits, and creativity in problem solving based on information and judgment
  • Complete all activities with a pride of ownership “as if it was your name on the door”


Required skills

  • Four year college degree or extensive field experience in one or more of the following: Commercial Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent
  • 3+ Years work experience as a Detailing Manager, BIM Manager or VDC Project Manager
  • 5 - 10 Years previous MEP commercial construction experience required
  • Strong computer skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office and other Autodesk Building Design Suite products.
  • Ability to work with minimum assistance and supervision is required
  • Strong teamwork orientation

Industry Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Trimble PipeDesigner 3D, Trimble DuctDesigner 3D, Autodesk; Building Design Suite, Fabrication CADmep, Revit & Navisworks
  • Working background in construction trades or supervisory experience with a general contractor or large subcontractor 
  • Field experience in design coordination, construction management, estimating or architectural construction administration


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science Degree or Engineering related field or 10+ Years Field and Office experience in either Architectural or MEP Design Coordination
