Senior Research Scientist (f/m/d)

We are engineers, designers, and technologists, brought together by a mission to reshape the future. Our objective is to reimagine the manufacturing process. It will be fully software-defined and driven entirely by AI, meaning new products will get to market much quicker.

About the role

We are currently looking for a Senior Research Scientist who will help us to build the next generation factory based on the principles of Industry 4.0. This will enable our partners to produce custom products without the need to change the factory layout. All the components within the factory are individual agents which interact on the basis of multiagent logic; receiving tasks through a system of logic-solve and utilizing complex event processing, machine learning and Big Data to determine the best outcome.

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will have the opportunity to utilise applied research and development in machine learning methods on the intersection of robotic perception and control to overcome specific issues in our problem domains; robotic grasping, sensor fusion, indoor localization, autonomous navigation, 3D scene understanding. This will include:

  • Identifying, designing and leading cutting-edge research in kinematics, computer vision or one of our other problem domains
  • Partnering with a multidisciplinary team of software and hardware engineers along with other research scientists
  • Producing high quality tested code that enables large scale research and can be transferred to physical robots deployed in the real world.
  • Providing technical leadership and developing the R&D Team

What are we looking for

  • PhD (preferred) or Masters in Computer Science or related technical field, ideally with experience in computer vision or kinematics
  • Experience in conducting applied research with real-world practical outcomes outside of academia
  • Ability to design and execute our research agenda
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or C++
  • A team player with strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn from others and contribute back to the robotics community
  • Solid mathematical background
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and oral

What we offer

  • To join a highly scientific-intensive culture and take part in developing a unique product
  • The ability to choose technology stack and approaches
  • Annual development budget - we support your ambition to learn
  • Relocation package - we would like to make your transition as smooth and easy as possible
  • Flexible working environment - choose your working hours and equipment
  • Brand new office just around the corner of Berlin Central Railway Station (Schultheiss Quartier)
