Head of Retail Sales

The Challenge:  Efficiently selling high value software as a service (SaaS) and marketplace participation to consumers as a better solution to manage their farmland than current alternatives.   Successfully address and overcome potential emotional attachment to the status quo including relationships with their current farmer when better alternatives exist.  Emotional analogs:  Financial services (changing a financial advisor), estate planning/elder care (managing complicated family dynamics), medical (switching a doctor). How did Airbnb convince people that letting a stranger into their bed was a good idea?

Responsibilities:  Work closely with marketing to develop tools, processes and talk tracks to sell Tillable’s services and the benefits of participating in Tillable’s marketplace.  Oversee a team of both inside and outside sales resources to meet aggressive growth goals measured in acres added to the platform.

Experience: 
  • 5-10 years experience selling high value services to consumers
  • Experience selling services delivered through a marketplace is a plus
  • Potential industry background: financial services, estate planning, elder care, real estate
  • Experience developing a marketplace or selling participation in a marketplace is a plus
  • Experience building a demand generation pipeline

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to form and test a hypothesis, learn and iterate
  • History of meeting challenging growth targets and sales quotas
  • Highly skilled with using an integrated CRM with marketing automation tools to track customer contacts
  • Success managing a sales funnel and experience with developing a sales forecast
  • Experience using data and data analytics successfully to improve performance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to concisely convey value and overcome objections: dogfight sales skills
  • Able to communicate and connect with people from all walks of life: Must be comfortable in rural America
  • Familiar and comfortable with a wide variety of situational sales: phone, webinar, in person, door-to-door
  • Must be able to lead by example
