Assistant Editor

Thrive Global is looking for an Assistant Editor to join our growing editorial team. The ideal candidate will have experience copy- and top-editing content in a fast-paced digital newsroom, as well as shaping branded and corporate editorial initiatives. Online community management experience is a plus.

  • Manage a flow of daily copy produced by in-house staff writers, including copy-editing, spell-checking, light fact-checking, and eliminating grammatical or stylistic mistakes and inconsistencies
  • Ensure editorial integrity across every aspect of each post, including light top-editing when appropriate
  • Build and publish posts within Thrive Global’s CMS in accordance with internal editorial standards
  • Implement and reinforce Thrive Global’s style guide 
  • Help generate and proofread engaging display copy, including copy specific to social media platforms
  • Oversee development and copy-editing of branded content materials, including those produced in collaboration with Thrive’s corporate partners
  • Help to research, plan, and executive editorial initiatives as they arise
  • Work with Thrive contributors to publish posts and meet editorial needs

  • Obsessed with detail and an eagle eye for the finer points of grammar and style
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience proofreading or copyediting in a fast-paced digital environment 
  • Top-notch organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • An intuitive grasp of the elements of compelling, editorially sound copy
  • Media/journalism background and newsroom experience preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for topics including well-being, productivity, neuroscience, psychology, performance and wisdom
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Experience in a start-up environment, digital newsroom, or other arena where the ability to translate ambiguous concepts to concrete actions plans is key
  • An interest in and familiarity with academic and business thought leadership
  • A high degree of comfort working with and around prominent personalities and celebrities
  • Proactive, collaborative, and eager to learn
