Description:
Thrive Global is looking for photo editor to help illustrate content across our platforms. The ideal candidate has experience negotiating and managing stock photo rights and permissions; an interest in new photographers in the digital space; relationships with and an understanding of existing photo agencies and databases, and a strong understanding of photo licensing and crediting. Candidates with strong PhotoShop skills and the ability to visually optimize visuals for social media and newsletter performance is preferred. A multitasker with an eye for detail and a strong understanding of visual storytelling, as well as a passion for Thrive’s mission, is highly valued.
 
You will: 
  • Leverage a strong background in photo research to support the content team across digital platforms and ensure visual integrity of all images in a fast-paced environment
  • Apply visual templates to stock photography, including silo’d images and triptiks
  • Support Thrive’s content franchises and formats around work productivity, health and wellbeing, and psychology and brain science
  • Work with our corporate team and external clients to create content visually optimized for the corporate audience
  • Pitch new visually-driven storytelling formats
  • Develop and maintain relationships and manage contracts with a range of photo libraries, databases, and photographers
  • Manage the credit process for visuals across all Thrive Global platforms 
  • Care deeply about ending the culture of corporate burnout and the topics of health, well-being, and productivity
 
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a photo editor in a digital newsroom or similar environment 
  • A strong understanding of how to tell a powerful story through visuals 
  • A keen eye for visual integrity and quality visual storytelling 
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and with basic photo-editing techniques
  • Familiarity/relationships with photo-research databases and stock agencies 
  • Experience working with editorial teams, providing multimedia visuals for social platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat 
  • Experience in a start-up environment, digital newsroom, or other arena where the ability to translate ambiguous concepts to concrete actions plans is key
  • Ability to shoot original photography is not required but is valued.
