The Director of Operations is a critical cross-functional role responsible for systemizing and driving process across all business functions. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the individual in this role will position Teamworks to maintain its rapid growth rate while scaling smoothly, ensure that cross-functional systems and processes are well defined and highly measurable, and collaborate closely with leaders in Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and People & Culture. The Director of Operations will have a key role in strategic business planning and forecasting as well as Teamworks’ expansion into new markets, both domestically and internationally.
We are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated and results-driven, has strong quantitative skills as well as a demonstrated history of effective peer leadership and exceptional communication. The ideal candidate for this role has an MBA and a background in Operations, Strategy, Management Consulting, or Finance. Because Teamworks is a growth-stage company, willingness to move fast, roll up your sleeves, admit mistakes, and be hungry to learn is a requirement. Lean Six Sigma experience or fluency in other efficiency-driving methodologies is a plus.

In Six Months,
- You have built relationships with leaders and individual contributors across the company and are beginning to add significant value to their departments.
- You have mapped Teamworks’ core processes (such as our Product Development Life Cycle, Customer Journey, Revenue Model, Sales Forecasting, and Annual Planning processes) and are analyzing associated metrics to optimize execution and position leaders to make data-driven decisions.
- You are learning the nuances of our industry and our market segments, spending time with clients, prospects, and industry stakeholders to ensure Teamworks’ operations are aligned with the needs of the industry.
- You have developed strong working partnerships with our Director of Strategy and VP, Finance, ensuring our strategy, operational execution, and financial planning are consistently in lockstep.
Activities To Achieve Success
- Analyze and make recommendations on Teamworks’ company and departmental KPIs, ensuring the senior leadership team has deep and clear visibility into performance against goals. Manage Teamworks’ executive dashboard.
- Map, document, and optimize internal and cross-functional processes. Look for opportunities to streamline and add efficiency anywhere possible.
- Measure Teamworks’ day-to-day operational motions, ultimately ensuring each function and initiative contributing to our execution has clear measures of success.
- Communicate well with senior leadership, presenting data-driven arguments and creating buy-in for necessary changes or improvements.
- Have a growth mindset and be disciplined in prioritization. Identify and focus on the areas where there is the opportunity to create the largest possible impact. We’re looking to build a foundation for rapid scale, not just make minor tweaks! Be a builder, not just an optimizer.
- Create transparency and visibility around company performance across the entire staff, ensuring all departments are aligned to Teamworks’ most important goals and that all staff are rowing in the same direction.
Required Qualifications:
- Passion for Teamworks’ mission to engage and empower the world’s best athletes.
- 5+ years experience in Operations, Strategy, Management Consulting, Finance or a comparable, relevant field.
- Athletics industry experience a plus.
- Experience in SaaS a plus.
- MBA or comparable educational experience.
- An attitude of continuous improvement, creativity and grit that you can apply to solving company challenges. In other words, when things get hard, you work the problem.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose problems, create short- and long-term solutions, and put in place processes to ensure the success of these solutions.
- Exceptional cross-organization collaboration and communication skills.
