On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K­12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers. 

Swing Education is focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network. 

Swing is a revenue generating, Series B, YC company (through ImagineK12). 

The Position 
The Business Operations & Strategy Manager will contribute to growth of Swing Education’s marketplace by developing and owning strategic analysis and business performance management tools that help identify and prioritize key opportunities for Swing. She will provide business insights to help Swing scale effectively and efficiently on both sides of its marketplace nationally. 

An ideal candidate for this position is a strong business thinker and fast learner that uses “first principles” to solve business problems, and is analytical, resourceful, detail­ oriented, and proactive. You must be flexible to work in a fast­ paced, collaborative, and innovative environment. This position reports to the Director of Business Operations & Strategy. 

Responsibilities 
  • Develop and maintain business performance management dashboards and tools for leadership team and key internal stakeholders to monitor the health of Swing’s marketplace 
  • Work cross functionally and with leadership team to gather inputs and inform strategy for goal setting and quarterly business reviews 
  • Proactively identify and escalate areas off track from target by defining and monitoring leading indicators for business health and building relationships with demand/supply growth teams 
  • Partner closely with data science to provide analytics tools to monitor real­ time demand and supply needs and inform territory/location growth priorities and forecasts 
  • Identify opportunities and inform prioritization between location markets for company ­wide growth levers/strategies 
  • Identify qualitative and quantitative trends and patterns in key company initiatives to inform strategy and prioritization 
  • Work closely with demand/supply operations teams to make sure company has most efficient tools and processes to drive sustainable growth 
  • Create ad hoc models and analyses to generate actionable business insights and inform strategy 

Qualifications
  • 4+ years work experience in management consulting, data analytics, banking, or other quantitative or analytical role in tech and operations management 
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to understand and solve complex problems 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence leadership team to drive results 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to build relationships effectively cross functionally 
  • Strong business analytical skills with experience in data analysis tools such as SQL, R, and Microsoft Excel. Advanced proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools a plus. 
  • Curious, learning mindset coupled with excellent investigative skills 
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial self­ starter, naturally takes ownership and looks for opportunities to drive business results in a fast ­paced, dynamic environment 
  • BA/BS degree in quantitative or business field
