SUMMARY:
Tank cleaning Operators operate a variety of manual servicing equipment and perform confined space entry onto tank roofs with Company established methods, policies, practices, and procedures and applicable regulations. Operators oversee and manage the full production process of the SWEATTECH tank cleaning system. They monitor equipment to ensure the quality, efficiency and safety of the system. They are also responsible for the safe operation, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of the system’s equipment and instruments; should have the ability to operate vapor control equipment, pumps, supplied breathing air (cascade) system, and monitoring instrumentation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practices safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
- Provide SWEATTECH tank cleaning services using appropriate techniques including handwork or manual work in accordance with established methods and applicable regulations.
- Conduct continuous inspections of all key process points in the system, to identify anything abnormal. If an issue is identified, they make necessary machinery and equipment adjustments and implement the proper response, including notifying supervisors.
- Operators are responsible for maintaining detailed reports of operations. They update process logbooks with activities and process adjustments made, noting any issues they encountered and measures taken.
- Manually cleans, installs, fits, repairs valves, piping, hoses, pumps, gaskets and all other external and internal equipment on projects
- Understanding of equipment maintenance and ability to perform maintenance utilizing supplied breathing air and applicable personal protective equipment
- Maintains good housekeeping and cleanliness in the operating areas
- Checks equipment at the start and end of each shift.
- Performs other duties as required
PERFORMANCE MEASURES/REQUIREMENTS:
- TWIC card
- Basic safety courses including site specific procedures
- All required local training
- Is physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities or his/her position.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and background check.
- Must have access to a telephone and reliable transportation
- Must be willing to be on a 24 hour per day call out basis, 7 days per week.
- Is willing and able to work overtime, shift work, rotating schedules, irregular hours, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as business needs may require
- Compliance with MVR policy, drug policy, and background check policy
- Successful completion of all required OSHA and industry standard training as a condition of continued employment
- Heavy travel required
- Must be qualified to drive a Company vehicle
ESSENTIAL DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Develops a basic working knowledge of all services provided by the company
- Reading, writing and comprehending in English
- Basic math skills
- Able to lift, use tools, shovel, sweep, load & unload, and carry materials up to 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills
- Good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting abilities
- Complete OSHA 29CFR 1910.120 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training and other safety related courses as required
