We are looking for a skilled accountant to join our fantastic team. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting principles with the proven ability to apply such principles in performing all aspects of general ledger activities. Strong ability to own, organize and prioritize tasks and projects with an acute attention to detail and accuracy are essential to this role. Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills are necessary while meeting time sensitive deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, and using discretion and good judgement with sensitive company information.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and account management communications
- Prepare and process customer invoices and apply customer payments
- Resolve customer billing issues as well as analyze and reconcile customer activity to merchant processing activity while working with our Member Services group
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
- Process vendor invoices, code expenditures to proper cost centers and general ledger accounts, prepare vendor payments, prepare month-end accruals and reconcile accounts to vendor statements
- Prepare and post semi-monthly payroll journal entries including the verification of commission calculations
- Prepare monthly departmental income statement and balance sheet fluctuation analysis by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and through discussions with operations personnel
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external monthly reporting packages for management, investors and lenders
- Perform other month-end closing activities as assigned
- Gather supporting documentation, prepare schedules and respond to inquiries from independent accountants during year-end audit
- Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommend changes
- Answer accounting and financial questions to various departments by researching and interpreting data
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations; etc.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelors degree in accounting, or a degree in business with emphasis in accounting, or commensurate work experience, is required. (Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university)
- Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software (experience with Intacct a plus)
- Proven track record of high attention to detail and willing to take initiative to research and resolve accounting issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have excellent work habits, including the flexibility and willingness to work intermittent variable schedules to meet time sensitive deadlines
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting is required.
