Job Summary
The VP Sales & Marketing will provide regional sales management and market development leadership, including sales and marketing, administration, regional sales staff and company financial performance. This individual will report to the President / CEO and will manage regional sales staff and sales administrative staff. This critical role will utilize knowledge of the company’s strengths and competitive advantage to scan the marketplace, and will identify and pursue new business opportunities and opportunities for growth.
Please note that this position will require extensive travel including frequent travel between the Sulphur Experts’ Calgary, Houston and Amsterdam offices.
Location: Calgary, Houston (Kemah) or Amsterdam (Katwijk)
Education & Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in sales and marketing in the downstream oil and gas or related industry, specifically sulphur recovery or amine treating.
- Experience with client communication, in-depth knowledge of specified market segments and clients and ability to manage the sales pipeline.
- Three or more years of progressive management and team leadership experience with direct reports.
- Experience in managing multiple client accounts, negotiating contracts and drafting proposals, quotes and bids.
- Prior experience in setting and adhering to team or project budgets.
- International project and client experience.
- Commitment to safety and safe workplace practices.
- CRM/ERP Software experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement sales and marketing initiatives with support from the Regional Managers and oversee project deployment as carried out by the VP Operations, in compliance with local regional laws and regulations.
- Manage all sales and marketing initiatives, including the marketing process and preparation of proposals and contracts.
- In collaboration with Regional Managers, ensure integration and joint marketing for the collective benefit of Sulphur Experts worldwide.
- Collaborate with the Regional Managers to prepare an annual and quarterly budget for approval by the Board of Directors that includes revenue projection by service line, project margin rates, staffing and administration costs, and capital budget.
- Report to the President monthly on regional financial performance to budget, including maintaining accountability for corporate and regional revenue, project margins, administrative and overhead costs, accounts receivable turnover and project compliance with approved schedules.
- Maintain accountability for all project budgets and contracts issued for the company, including administering regional overhead and capital budgets approved by the Board of Directors
- Develop an annual regional business plan that links to the annual corporate strategic business plan.
- Constantly survey and assess client needs to bring forward to the corporate business planning process.
- Conduct various client relationship management responsibilities with the overall goal of regional client satisfaction.
- Lead the review of negative job reports from clients and approve remedial steps.
- Manage any regional relationships with suppliers, business partners, agents, JV’s, etc.
- Manage and supervise a team of Regional Sales Staff, marketing staff and regional sales administrative staff, including performance assessment, mentorship and career development and salary and bonus compensation recommendations with the overall goal of staff productivity and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with other Regional Managers to evaluate any project resourcing or scheduling conflicts brought forward by the VP Operations.
- Assist in negotiating all project contracts for the regions.
- Implement a regional Professional Practice Management Plan and coordinate the Client Liaison.
- Ensure that all project scope and schedule information has been approved by the Production Manager at the project commitment stage.
- Work with Regional Managers to be responsible for regional project risk management.
- In select situations, lead projects in the field as needed by client or where specific expertise is required.
- Review regional safety programs as administered by the Production Manager and sit as a member on the corporate-wide HSE Lead Committee as pertaining to clients and projects.
