Job Summary
The Sulphur or Amine Process Engineer (Intermediate-Senior) will provide process customer-focused engineering technical expertise and support to the project team, ensuring that technical excellence, cost, schedule and contractual requirements are achieved. This is a hands-on position that involves onsite operations troubleshooting work with significant international travel. This individual will report to the Regional Manager and will apply and demonstrate engineering best practices in amine treating, sour water stripping or sulphur recovery processes. Assigned projects may require modification from established guidelines, development of new approaches, and applying existing criteria in a new manner.
Location: Kemah, Texas
Please note that this exciting opportunity will require extensive travel to client sites and occasional travel between offices located in Calgary, Houston and Amsterdam.
Education & Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years operations experience working in a multi-project industrial setting in downstream oil and gas or related industry.
- At minimum, intermediate-level experience associated with amine treating or sulphur recovery processes.
- In-house and/or large presentation experience.
- Proven track record in supervising the work of other engineers and leading project teams (3-4 people).
- Experience in sulphur recovery simulation software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to client locations up to 50% of the time.
- Successful participation in drug and alcohol testing program.
- Commitment to safety and safe workplace practices.
Responsibilities
- Execute engineering activities such as process design, process troubleshooting, process optimization, shutdown support and start up support with the objective of meeting the defined contractual scope to the relevant codes, standards and company procedures.
- Provide senior onsite technical support for sulphur plant and some amine treating system operations.
- Present training materials at the Sulphur Experts technical training courses.
- Participate in internal research and development and method development.
- Plan and coordinate projects.
- Perform field test tasks including sample point preparation, sample collection, data collection and sample analysis.
- Lead field test projects including job setup, preparation and execution.
- Conduct full range of engineering calculations.
- Provide direct technical support and advice to external clients, including preparation and presentation of reports.
- Collect and interpret data, including process simulation modeling.
- Support supervision of engineering and technical staff including continuously reviewing engineering calculations from junior engineering staff.
- Provide general support and assistance to senior team members.
- Provide technical support to sales staff for determination of project scope.
- Prepare reports and technical reviews.
- Review engineering reports from other engineering staff.
- Lead Sulphur Experts’ health and safety program by obtaining and maintain various safety certifications including First Aid, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry, etc.
- Participate in company safety meetings.
- Complete personal time sheets and expense reports.
Compensation
$70,000 – 130,000 per year with potential for additional bonus compensation
