Sr. Accountant

The senior accountant is responsible for performing accounting-related duties which include, without limitation, transaction entry and  interpreting and analyzing accounting data and financial statements. This professional position will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure timely and accurate entry of financial data.  This includes a variety of accounting and clerical tasks such as processing accounts receivable, accounts payable, timesheets, account reconciliations, accounting analysis, and other accounting duties.  This position will also perform special projects for management and the department.

Roles & Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable
Set up new customers for invoicingCreate and input customer invoices
Record cash receiptsAssist customers with billing questions

Accounts Payable
Set up new vendorsReview invoices for accuracyCode invoices with G/L account
Process checks and batch with appropriate documentation for signatures
Audit expense reports and ensure compliance with company policy

Timesheet Processing
Process bi-weekly payroll
Record payroll expenses

Cash Management
Process electronic vendor payments
Record cash transactionsResolve banking issues  Monitor daily account activity

Financial Reporting
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports

  • Maintain A/P and A/R files
  • Maintain fixed asset schedule and perform annual physical inventory
  • Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist in budgeting process
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
  • Complete reconciliations and analysis work as assigned
  • Participate and provide updates in weekly staff meetings


Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years equivalent business related experience preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting software packages; experience with NetSuite and ADP a plus
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Ability to utilize strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times required
  • Individual will be expected to work with a minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work
