Legal Assistant (Corporate focus)

Based in Vancouver, our client runs a boutique law firm with 3 lawyers and is currently hiring for a legal assistant. 

Our client is known for their practical, strategic approach to legal and business problems. With a growing boutique Vancouver office and a diverse client base, this is an exciting and progressive firm to join!

Our Vancouver based client is looking for a motivated and dedicated legal assistant for their Vancouver office. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize a workload, pay attention to detail, and have excellent organizational, communication, and written skills.

The Role:
• Responsible for complex work from initial instructions to completion involving things such as litigation, commercial conveyancing, finance experience, corporate incorporation, and reorganization
• Prepare documents, including amalgamations, extra-provincial registration, acquisitions, estate freezes, the formation of partnership, dissolutions and ETC
• Prepare and file documents for partnerships, limited partnerships and business names
• Update and maintain corporate records and minute books and ensure documents comply with the applicable legislation and are entered into the database
• Organize and deal with transactions to oversee the execution of documents
• Organize and ensure Firm service requests and requirements are met in a timely manner
• Be prepared to take on extra hours or other responsibilities as required 

The Ideal Candidate:
• Completion of a Paralegal Diploma / Certificate from a recognized Canadian institution 
• 2 years of experience as a Corporate Paralegal or Equivalent training/experience
• Knowledge of relevant laws/legislation including British Columbia Business Corporations Act (BCBCA), Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) and Canada Corporations Act
• Eligible for membership in the BC Paralegal Association
• Excellent oral, written English is essential to this role as well as excellent communication skills
• Technology Savvy and proficient in Corporate Records, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Flexibility in schedule to do additional hours when needed
