Low-Income Inclusion Program Manager

Title: Low-Income Inclusion Program Manager
Term: Full-time
Compensation: $50,000 annually plus performance-based bonus
Location: Cambridge, MA
Position Overview: More than 50% of Americans currently face little to no opportunity to participate in renewable energy owing to their income and credit status. Join a team at Solstice working with the Department of Energy award to better understand how low-income Americans can be served by the growing community solar industry, which allows them to save money and join the clean energy transition for the first time. The right candidate is passionate about environmental justice and social equity, has strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to project manage.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage numerous projects at the same time with the goal of pioneering new models of financial inclusion
  • Work with non-profit staff on all matters related to day-to-day execution of a multimillion-dollar federally-granted project
  • Draft program and policy deliverables, and grant reporting, to increase community solar access
  • Design and implement an impact assessment study to evaluate one or more low-to-moderate income community solar energy pilot projects. Interpret and communicate results of the analysis
  • Support stakeholder engagement via participation in external meetings and policy proceedings, such as with alliance and coalition partners. Attend conferences as relevant

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field (i.e. environmental studies, policy, etc.)
  • 3+ years background in programmatic and/or policy work, ideally in the environmental or social equity spaces
  • Commitment to intersectional social justice, namely environmental, racial, and economic equity
  • Extraordinary attention to detail -- coupled with capacity for “big picture” thinking
  • Outstanding time-management to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Polished written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive work ethic, problem-solving abilities, resourcefulness, and eagerness to navigate a fast-paced startup environment
  • An enthusiastic team player and consensus-builder
  • Proficiency in budgeting and Excel
  • Experience working on government grants a plus

As a Program Manager You Will Gain:
  • Ownership over the development of a sustainable, scalable, and replicable project model for inclusive community solar
  • Access to a network of diverse stakeholders, including community advocates, industry leaders, and public officials at the forefront of policy, finance, and project innovation
  • Deep understanding of the rapidly growing community solar and renewable energy space
  • Hands-on clean tech startup experience, including personal interaction with senior management
