Title: Low-Income Inclusion Program Associate
Term: Full-time
Compensation: $40,000/year plus bonus
Location: Cambridge, MA
Position Overview: More than 50% of Americans currently face little to no opportunity to participate in renewable energy owing to their income and credit status. Join a team at Solstice working with the Department of Energy award to better understand how low-income Americans can be served by the growing community solar industry, which allows them to save money and join the clean energy transition for the first time. The right candidate is passionate about environmental justice and social equity, has strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to project manage.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior staff on all matters related to day-to-day execution of a federally-granted project
- Draft program and policy deliverables, and grant reporting, to increase community solar access
- Design and implement an impact assessment study to evaluate one or more low-to-moderate income community solar energy pilot projects. Interpret and communicate results of analysis
- Support stakeholder engagement via participation in external meetings and policy proceedings, such as with alliance and coalition partners. Attend conferences as relevant
- Take and distribute meeting notes, identify next steps, and update task management systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field (i.e. environmental studies, policy, etc.)
- Experience or strong interest in programmatic and/or policy work, ideally in the environmental or social equity spaces
- Commitment to intersectional social justice, namely environmental, racial, and economic equity
- Extraordinary attention to detail -- coupled with capacity for “big picture” thinking
- Outstanding time-management to balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Polished written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Proactive work ethic, problem-solving abilities, resourcefulness, and eagerness to navigate a fast-paced startup environment
- An enthusiastic team player and consensus-builder
- Proficiency in budgeting and Excel
- Experience working on government grants a plus
