Director of Business Development

  • Title: Business Development Manager
    Location: Cambridge, MA (MBTA Accessible via Central Sq.)
    Position overview: Solstice seeks an enterprising, self-starting individual to lead our rapidly expanding business development efforts. You’ll work directly with the co-founders and you’ll be responsible for expansion efforts across a variety of solar industry stakeholders, including financiers, developers, and utilities. You’ll be responsible for revenue generation strategy and new business opportunities for Solstice.

    Responsibilities will include:
    • Spearhead outreach to solar project developers and utilities with an objective of identifying and winning significant new business opportunities for Solstice
    • Solar developer partnership management, serving as main point of contact, conveying information from outreach team, and providing strategic direction for customer product offering
    • Participation in community solar policy advocacy, particularly in new states starting to develop community solar policies
    • Key interlocutor between all Solstice departments (e.g. software, sales, marketing, operations, and LMI inclusion) to identify new features for development based on solar developer and utility needs
    • Manage business development staff of 2+ personnel
    • Maintenance of solar project financial models by state, incorporating a thorough understanding of various state-specific financial incentives and compensation mechanisms
    • Represent Solstice at industry conferences

    Qualifications:
    • 5-10 years of experience in business development, financial services, or other related field.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to articulate value proposition to external stakeholders with passion and energy
    • Proficient in MS Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, creative, personable, enthusiastic, proactive, team-oriented
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders and partners
    • Excited to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
    • Strong interest in environmentalism, clean energy, and/or social equity
     
    As a Business Development Manager, you will gain:
    • Experience articulating and pitching Solstice’s services to prospective partners and customers, and strategizing for an early stage cleantech startup
    • A deep understanding of the solar and renewable energy space, particularly the rapidly growing community solar industry
