Job Overview:
We are looking for a leader to drive the vision and strategy for Soko Glam’s digital merchandising function in support of the business’ continued growth and success. This person needs to be a strategic thinker with the ability to embrace change and foster new opportunities to grow the business. As a visionary leader s/he will inspire and mentor a high performing team to drive impactful product strategies and set the course for growth with our existing and future brands. The VP of Business Development & Merchandising will oversee the formation of business partnerships and negotiation of contracts, lead the company's planning and execution of strategies to increase sales and company growth, and lead the business development and merchandising team. 

Essential Functions:
  • Manage and mentor a team of digital merchants; play a key role in creating future leaders of the organization
  • Develop and execute overall strategy for Soko Glam’s growth with new product introductions and strategic expansion of current brands
  • Determine new brands and assortments
  • Set profit and ecommerce sales objectives to meet plans by season and by year
  • Analyze sales, feedback and historical data to inform product decisions
  • Communicate financial goals to merchants and partner with them in devising season and yearly strategies to attain goals
  • Own Merchandising Reporting to drive sales optimization by brand, category & key SKUs
  • Manage reporting and analytics of key initiatives to drive decision making for key pilot programs and/or test/learn Merchandising Initiatives
  • Lead key brand partner sales performance analysis, including synthesizing top line headlines & insights for executive level top to top meetings; includes ad hoc requests for deep-dive margin analysis 
  • Spearhead brand contract and negotiation processes 
  • Interpret and communicate management direction to team members

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
  • 12+ years of experience leading diverse functional areas such as marketing, BI, Strategy, Digital Merchandising, etc.
  • Beauty and startup industry preferred
  • Financial Budgeting and/or Strategic planning & analysis background preferred
  • Track record of managing/leading and participating on cross-functional teams across various departments
  • Proven ability to develop category/brand strategies
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect with peers, subordinates, senior executives and vendors
  • Strong Excel proficiency required
  • Thrives on an environment that is fast-paced, rapidly changing, and customer service-oriented
  • Identifies opportunities and finds solutions to drive efficiency
  • Inspirational + strategic leader who has the ability to align and inspire the team around a common vision with the ability to conceive and create innovative thinking and ideas
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
