About the Role
We’re looking for a creative and energetic full-time Managing Director of Search Marketing to join our team in our New York City office. In this role, you’ll be a founding member of an entirely new line of business for the agency: Expanding our services offering with paid search, shopping ads, and demand generation via PPC channels.

This key leadership role is 3-pronged. You will audit performance and assist in closing of prospective PPC media clients’ business, traffic & optimize campaigns on relevant ad buying platforms, and collaborate with senior analysts & our in-house creative team to formulate strategic action plans for each client.

The ideal Managing Director of Search Marketing candidate is both creatively-minded and performance-driven, a strong collaborator, and an all around figure-it-out-er. Applicants should have an understanding of search, shopping, and PPC advertising for ecommerce, a creative awareness of the performance digital advertising field, and experience with winning new business and profitably scaling client ad spend.

Job Responsibilities
  • Audit accounts, creatively pitch, and help close new business for Social Method’s new Demand Generation & PPC services offering
  • Manage client search, shopping, and PPC ad budgets
  • Create and traffic ads daily PPC ad buying platforms like Google Ads, Bing, and more
  • Build and hire a team of account managers in support of an overall agency strategy plan
  • Perform bi-weekly check-in calls with clients and senior analysts
  • Pull daily reports on ad performance and make adjustments to ensure ROI is hitting goals
  • Work closely with our creative team to brainstorm creative & copy, drawing on client needs and input where possible
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable, tactical and strategic action plans
  • Familiarize yourself with client products & come up with promotional strategies on digital channels
  • Formulate clients ads using your own ad copy & image/video assets

Candidate Requirements
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent media buying / advertising analyst experience
  • 5+ years experience in paid digital advertising, specializing in paid search, shopping, and PPC
  • Experience auditing, pitching, and closing prospective business in an agency environment
  • Strong analytical track record
  • Experience analyzing and driving marketing insights from data
  • Experience building and managing a team of direct reports to compound agency impact for clients
  • Understanding of the online advertising industry
  • Self-starter who thrives in a startup environment
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work well individually
  • Strong structured thinking, and business savvy to leverage online data in order to understand online audiences, and help our clients develop high-impact, efficient online advertisements
