The Specification Writer will be responsible for drafting, preparing, and specifications for our firm’s projects. Knowledge and experience with spec writing is necessary. This position requires the ability to communicate using architectural industry terminology. This individual will have excellent patience, written and interpersonal skills. This person must be a self-starter with the ability to collaborate with teams.
Essential Job Duties and Skills:
Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on all projects and ensures policies are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner. Ensures that a technical solution, consistent with the program and design is properly developed and produced.
Works closely with the project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes. Develops and implements internal controls for all team members assigned to a project. Monitors and supervises development of contract documents.
Has overall responsibility for coordination with sub-consultants in implementation of quality assurance and quality control checks. Reviews and supervises work of less experienced architects. Responsible for all project work planning and scheduling. May act in a team lead capacity in the absence of the manager.
Serves as subject matter expert on architectural projects of the largest size.
Assists with the promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training and mentoring of staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
7 years of related experience
Revit skills – related to ability to safely navigate a model environment and coordinate keynote content.
Proficiency in specifications software programs (i.e. MasterSpec, e-SPECS, SpecLink-E, SpecsIntact), MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to produce a well-coordinated, detail-oriented, fully integrated specifications.
Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
LEED© accreditation desirable, but, not required.
