Skift is the largest business media company covering the business of travel, through a combination of news, research, conferences and marketing services. We are hiring a full-time Sales Manager to join its growing business team in London, UK.
The right candidate will be a self-starter who understands the consultative sales process and has a track record for breaking business. The position requires excellent listening and probing skills in order to understand clients’ marketing and communications needs. The Sales Manager will report to the European Sales Director, also based in London, and work closely with Skift’s in house content studio to provide clients with appropriate solutions.
What You’ll Do:
The Sales Manager will take ownership of running accounts as well as be responsible for actively pursuing new business across the European travel, restaurant and wellness sectors. This candidate will develop client relationships through meetings, phone calls as well as attending industry conferences and networking events. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, managing new and existing business, setting meetings, building and managing a sales pipeline, preparing pitches and proposals, collaborating with Skift team to formulate client recommendations, facilitating sales contracts and media plans, and staying current on industry news.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the European Sales Director to build a large European pipeline of leads to drive RFPs and IOs
- Engage clients across all levels of business titles/responsibilities
- Create and present proposals to advertising partners and prospects
- Must be able to persuasively articulate Skift’s product benefits
- Accurately forecast pitches and client interactions in Salesforce
- Work closely with European Sales Director to monitor and project revenue goals
- Interact with campaign performance team to effectively manage campaign delivery
- Collaborate with SkiftX content studio team on client proposals and presentations
- Include sales management as needed / required
- Provide weekly sales activity reports
Minimum Requirements:
- 5-7 years media sales experience, preferably in branded content and sponsorship sales
- Experience and understanding of travel and/or restaurant industry a plus
- Experience in B2B media sales a plus
- Excellent communication, presentation, phone etiquette and sales skills
- Experience in lead generation, sales forecasting, knowledge of Salesforce
- Understanding of the nuances of branding and performance campaigns
- Experience in structuring and negotiating deals in the media space
- A passion for selling sponsorships and branded content
- Ability to collect business intelligence by building deep client relationships
- Expected to stay current on all industry news pertaining to your brand portfolio
- The desire to work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment and learn, learn, learn!
- Fluent in French and/or Spanish a plus
