SIXGEN would like to add a strong, ambitious, dedicated, and self-motivated Space Systems Liaison Officer (LNO) to our team.
Primary roles:
- Represent the interests of the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC)
- Provide expert coordination of space program management and systems engineering activities between SMDC and geographically separated DoD program offices
- Attend periodic program manager reviews, integrated product team (IPT) meetings, and design reviews for developmental spacecraft and payloads
- Provide early warning for emerging issues and concerns to SMDC
- Facilitate problem solving for issues pertaining to program execution, contract actions, and contractor insight and oversight efforts for spacecraft buses, payloads, ground control stations, launch vehicles, mission planning, and spacecraft autonomy elements
- Contribute to the US Army's space vision and science and technology (S&T) transition initiatives
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, math, computer science, or a related field
- 15+ years of work experience culminating in O-5, O-6, GS-14, GS-15, or higher government rank or industry equivalent
- 7+ years of work experience related to orbital space systems acquisition, program management, development, or operations
Required:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Duty station will be Arlington, Virginia with frequent travel (up to 2 trips per month) to Huntsville, Alabama
- Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Domain knowledge in one or more areas of space science or spacecraft engineering, e.g., orbital mechanics, spacecraft subsystems, space launch, ground control stations, satellite communications, optical or radio frequency payloads, or mission planning
- Familiarity with DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process
Highly Desired:
- Master's degree or higher in engineering, physics, math, computer science, or a related field
