SUMMARY
The Business Development Organization is where our company mission begins. The BDR serves two critical functions:
- Increasing Account Executive’s productivity by establishing qualified customer appointments
- Developing future sales leaders
We are looking for a rockstar Business Development Representative for our growing market. Our ideal candidate will be dynamic, with an outbound “hunter” mentality and should have a proven ability to penetrate a targeted account base, create net-new opportunities, and exceed quota. The prospective candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, professional, eager to learn and with a proven track record of success.
BDR’s are responsible for business development activities ranging from: qualifying and prospecting targeted accounts, working MQLs, leverage resources effectively to create value based messaging and scheduling meetings for sales reps into qualified opportunities. You will be the first point of contact for prospects and will have a direct impact on the success of the company through your ability to effectively drive new business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prospect to identify net-new opportunities
- Identify, qualify, and set appointments for sales reps
- Deep understanding and research on key target accounts
- Qualify and respond to daily marketing generated leads
- Help drive attendance to scheduled events via email and/or calls
- Work closely with Account Executives to identify sales targets, initiatives and penetrate new accounts
- Communicate early and often with Marketing on strategy, lead generation, and lead programs
- Continually keep up with current market trends, companies, news releases, and competitor news
- Daily use of sales enablement tools including but not limited to Outreach, Salesforce.com, Discover.org, Gmail, LinkedIn, etc.
- Ability to travel to events when needed (once a quarter)
QUALITIES / EXPERIENCE WE’RE SEEKING
- Consistent track record of exceeding quota and penetrating net-new accounts
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize various business development-related activities and fluently adapt to shifting priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to clearly communicate Signal Sciences value prop to varying roles in an IT organization
- Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and effective time management
- Demonstrated ability to optimize performance and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in sales (B2B preferred; cybersecurity experience is a plus)
- BA/BS Degree required
- Must be willing and able to work in an open office, team environment
- You are coachable, able to implement feedback and dedicated to continuous self improvement
- SalesForce experience is a plus but not required
