Select is working with a busy, agriculture-focused client who is looking for a Logistics Coordinator to manage the shipment of 400-500 loads of product per week. This person must be a bigger picture thinker; “How do we get the best price, how can we get it there before the expected delivery date?” This organization puts culture at the forefront, so they need someone that is going to be able to jive well with the other 10 employees, all within an open space environment – walls, dividers, and doors inhibit the productivity and efficiency of operations here.
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Scheduling product destinations, shipments, and pickups
* Finding competitive pricing from carriers
* Quoting and tracking shipments
* Building and maintaining relationships with 3rd party carriers, suppliers, and freight brokers
* Processing and filing orders, invoices, and shipping documents
* Being proactive in solving problems; mitigating risks ahead of time (ex. delays, tariffs)
* Bills of lading
* Working independently in an open space environment, but having the ability to pick up on key words in discussions between employees that effect the Logistics Coordinator position
* Melding into the team effectively; standing behind the lines of open communication
Required Qualifications:
* Excellent negotiating, communication, and planning skills
* Ability to work well with constant distraction
* Attentiveness to details and accuracy
* Assertive and competitive nature
* Capable of dealing with conflict and antagonism, must have a “thick skin”
* Computer literate; knowledge of online shipping tools/software, MS Suite
* Working knowledge of Canadian import and export regulations
* Some Post-secondary education; business administration, management, supply chain, marketing
Bonus Points For:
* Background in agriculture
Compensation & Hours:
* Entry level will be $40K - $50K/yr.; 2-3 years already in the business will be $60 - $80K/yr.
* This position can offer growth into a more advanced role over time
* Monday – Friday, daytime hours
