The Role
We’ve built a fantastic, market leading product. This is the ideal time to play a significant role in making the company grow and shaping the engineering culture throughout our journey.
 
You will be a key figure in the engineering team; facilitating them in the day to day deliverables whilst putting effective procedures in place to help us grow rapidly as a business. You will be managing the engineering team and helping them grow and improve on all fronts. You will also be working with global clients to help deliver RolePoint's products and solutions. We expect this role to be around 60% team management and 40% developing.

Qualifications
  • Solid web developer
  • NoSQL, Python
  • Ideally JavaScript MV* frameworks (e.g. Backbone), CoffeeScript, Elm, Flask, Google App Engine, AWS
 
Education - not required but encouraging
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Electrical Engineering at 2.1 level.

Responsibilities will include:
Daily
  • Assigning work to engineers and keeping an eye on requests from our Account Management team in NYC
  • Contributing to product documentation from other colleagues
  • Writing technical product documentation you own 
  • Coding any personally assigned projects
  • Filling in (coding) where team isn't meeting peak demand (e.g. staff on holiday, etc)
  • Reviewing code
Weekly
  • Assisting with the occasional sales call about engineering and/or security
  • Assist with IT security requests from prospects and clients 
  • Distributing work to the engineers which will help them grow
  • Keeping an eye on merges and releases to make sure they're in good order
  • Management meetings
 
Monthly
  • Engineering catch ups with each engineer
  • Helping to collate achievements for management announcements and reports
  • Sharing engineering team feedback for management to action and help with
  • Reviewing technical spend
