Job Description:
The Chief Engineer will work with the Senior Leadership Team, including Design, Control Autonomy and Regulatory Team Leads and all other cross-functional employees of the corporation to develop the engineering program for the venture that will change the way we move people, goods and deliver specialized transportation services. The main functional areas include battery, electric machines, power devices, electric drive modules (including transmissions), the internal combustion engine and control systems integration. This position must ensure that the vehicle will meet the functional and performance objectives outlined in the Product Promise . This executive leader as Senior Vehicle Development & Engineering professional will bring deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise in emerging electric (EV) and autonomous (AV) vehicles from the aviation and/or automobile industry. S/he develops vehicle development program including plans and budgets, perform critical analysis, risk management, ensure proper change-management procedures, pursues all cost-saving opportunities to maximize project profitability, and monitors project performance. Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions. Additionally, they will be accountable for realizing the regulatory certifications and formulating manufacturing programs for these products by making them more safe, efficient, and better.

Simply stated, they translate design into commercially viable products/solutions .
  • Lead and manage the vehicle prototype development program
  • Accountable for overall vehicle development program from proof-of-concepts (PoC) or prototypes thru to orchestration of manufacturing strategy/programs/partnerships.
  • Responsible of evaluation/design, engineering management, and performance assessments of launch vehicle, systems and subsystems.
  • Conduct and coordinate engineering review boards.
  • Chair and lead weekly technical design reviews to identify all technical issues
  • Create an open issue list accordingly and drive resolution to issues through regular meetings and individual discussions as required
  • Ensure technical risks and issues have clear path to resolution and elevate for prioritization
  • Review of technical documentation, issues and change management programs
  • Create/assess test plans against industry standards
  • Evaluate and track system and sub- system issues and configuration changes.
  • Coordinate approval of reports and generate system-level risks from these review boards.

S/he should have progressive work experience work experience in automotive/aeronautical, industrial manufacturing or engineering product development environments with:
  • To collaborate tightly with the design, product, and engineering teams to design new features integrating emerging transportation technologies (aero & auto preferably).
  • Design tools, jigs, fabrication processes to aid the build of prototypes
  • Source and manage partnerships and suppliers/vendors (ecosystems)
  • Manage the stage-gate vehicle development program (alpha, beta, and GA)

18+ years experience in couple of industry segments; automotive, aviation, and mechanical/industrial manufacturing products

Educational Qualifications:
BA in Mechanical/Automobile/ Industrial/Manufacturing Systems and Operations Engineering with minor in Industrial Design, Operations Research, and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI)
