Our client is seeking the right individual to lead the company’s mission critical IT team. The IT function is seen as a strategic capability and they are expecting tech-boom-like growth over the next twelve months. They are looking for an experienced individual that fits the company culture, can manage the continued growth and take the IT function to the next level.
Position Summary
The VP IT will be responsible for establishing the IT vision, building the IT department into a strategic strength and align that strength with the overall company business strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Champion IT as a strength of the company. Take ownership of and improve upon an existing technology vision and roadmap for the company.
- Direct all IT functions and technology development, including infrastructure, development, systems, communications, data, and risk.
- Build a business-strategy-aligned IT organization, with appropriate levels of internal expertise, personnel development programs and relationships with external partners.
- Develop policies, procedures and other documentation throughout the IT-sphere.
- Work effectively with all functional departments with an eye toward improving customer experiences, internal productivity, security and company profitability.
- Collaborate with Finance to establish departmental spending and Capex budgets.
- Keep current with technology trends that could enhance the company’s performance.
- Lead IT M&A due diligence and integration efforts for a best combined performance.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position would be responsible for supervising six individuals on the IT team. This is subject to change as the company continues to grow.

Requirements
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Information Science/Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of progressive experience leading IT teams and departments.
- Five or more years of experience leading complex projects such as website launches, complex system integrations, and internal technology migrations.
- Background working with development teams in multiple technology stacks, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Expertise in:
- Business intelligence, reporting and data analytics
- Application and system design, development and integration
- Software and technology selection and management
- Business process analysis and architecture
- Important Technology Knowledge & Experience:
- Working knowledge of IT audits and compliance
- Development, especially public-facing websites, apps, and email
- System design, analysis, and integration - CRM experience strongly preferred
- Project management and requirement gathering
- Risk management, including Cyber Security and Disaster Recovery
- Data operations management and strategy

- Media companies
- News websites and related content delivery mechanisms
- Paywalls and subscription services
- Digital products
- Event Companies
- Conference and registration websites
- Event management systems
- Data flow between systems, including CRMs

- Proven experience in team building, hiring, augmentation and mentoring
