Marijuana Business Daily is seeking the right individual to lead the company’s mission critical IT team. The IT function is seen as a strategic capability and they are expecting tech-boom-like growth over the next twelve months. They are looking for an experienced individual that fits the company culture, can manage the continued growth and take the IT function to the next level.
Position Summary
The Full Stack WordPress Developer will be responsible for helping build the technology infrastructure. This role will collaborate with their team members to take on a wide variety of projects and drive them to a successful conclusion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a passion for technologies, and introduce advancements that provide value.
- Optimize sites for speed, SEO and overall user experience.
- Continually seek improvement in the hosting infrastructure, technology stacks and code quality.
- Spur efforts in testing, refactoring, usability, and automation.
- Find the best solutions to challenges, be they elegant or complicated, best practice or innovation.

Requirements
Required Education/Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of solid development experience.
- A project portfolio that demonstrates your talent.
- Strong full stack skills, including proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the front end and database and PHP skills on the back end.
- Development experience on at least one CMS, with WordPress strongly preferred.
- Optimization of sites for SEO, speed and overall user experience.
- Experience with testing tools.
- Requirement gathering and communication skills.
- A positive attitude coupled with the ability to find creative, innovative solutions.
- A desire to be a part of a team, to mentor and to share your knowledge - not just put your head down and code for 40 hours a week.
- A sense of ownership and pride in what you create.
Preferred Experience and Education
- E-commerce set-ups, especially those involving subscription sites and paywalls.
- Experience working with media or event companies.
- A passion for delivering elegant, responsive designs for all devices.
- Proficiency in CSS frameworks, JavaScript frameworks, Grunt/Gulp, SASS and other development tools/technologies.
- The code skills to create integrations and automations between disparate systems.
- Exposure to conversion optimization practices, and how to implement those to look great.
- Presentation of content and data in innovative ways.
- Experience with AWS or other hosting providers.
