Job description:
We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer to work on large, scalable web applications to join our team in Century City, Cape Town.
The job will involve working with data from our sites or extending the functionality on the Magento 2 platform and other PHP frameworks in a wide range of creative approaches.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Development of custom Magento extensions (client specific or internal) based on the brief set out in the technical specification Create system integrations between Magento and external systems and APIs
- Facilitate Magento migrations (from Magento 1 or other platforms to Magento 2)
Participate in the development of our own tools, frameworks and extensions used as a basis on client implementations - Bug fixing and root cause analysis assistance on support tickets
- Documentation of new software components
- Approach any development with the utmost attention to code quality, Magento best practices, re-usability, security, performance and upgradeability
REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
- PHP development experience using Zend, Laravel or similar PHP frameworks
- Knowledge in Object Oriented PHP, Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns
- Knowledge of Git and distributed source control concepts, including branching and merging strategies
- Good knowledge of the Linux command line, SSH, CLI tools
- MySQL knowledge
- Good knowledge of debugging tools and code profilingExperience with unit testing and static code analysis
