ABOUT THE ROLE:
Red Bay Coffee is looking for an experienced Senior Financial Planning Analyst to forecast revenues and expenditures and advise us on future budgeting needs. This role will also be responsible for analyzing the Company’s financial performance by channel as well as creating a monthly forecast and supporting the annual plan. The role supports the Finance, Operations, and Sales team creating financial models to quickly analyze significant amounts of data across different systems.
In this role, you should have deep experience in Finance or Accounting (CFA certification a plus) followed by relevant work experience. Knowledge of forecasting models and cost accounting processes are key requirements for this position. You will explore investment options and set company-wide financial policies.
Ultimately, you will ensure our financial planning is healthy and profitable and aligns with business objectives. This position will be based in Oakland/Richmond and report directly to our Director of Operations and Finance.This role is a full-time exempt position.
What you will do:
- Maintain financial models through benchmarking and process analysis
- Forecast quarterly and annual profits
- Prepare cost projections, according to Operating Budgets
- Analyze and report on current financial status
- Analyze performance results by channel vs. plan and provide key variance drivers and insights to the Red Bay leadership team
- Conduct thorough research of historical financial data
- Analyze investment options and present risk and opportunities
- Coordinate with the financial leadership and the executive team on long-term financial planning
- Compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
- Review accounting transactions for data accuracy
- Create a template for sales contracts and partner with the sales leadership team to create and/or renew contracts for the Company’s largest customersProvide tools for the Sales team to assess customer and product profitability
- Complete ad-hoc requests in support of the Red Bay leadership team
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions
- Report all findings to Director of Operations & Finance for collaboration on best financial practices
What you will bring:
- Proven work experience as a Financial Planning and Analyst, or similar role
- 4+ years of experience in an analytical role
- BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- Self-starter who with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Experience in pricing, forecasting and planning/budgeting preferred
- Hands-on experience with financial and statistical software
- Expertise in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas)
- Familiarity with finance databases and understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP)
- Up-to-date with accounting laws and regulations
- Solid communication skills, with an ability to influence others and adapt the message depending on the audience
- Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Wholesale and/or Retail industries strongly preferred
- Experience in manufacturing preferred
- Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts
- Demonstrable strategic thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, multi-task and ensure deadlines are met
