Web Developer

The Web Developer position at RateGenius works with the Marketing and Business Development team to build and maintain our corporate website which is responsible for attracting thousands of customers a month.  Our ideal candidate will be responsible for translating business requirements into templates, pages, posts, and general updates to the website. They will work with our Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing teams to test and deploy changes according to our product roadmaps.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Creating responsive websites and pages low-fidelity to high-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, and when applicable, replicating transitions and features defined in Adobe XD or Figma to the website
  • Create, maintain, and update WordPress themes
  • Creating and working with WordPress custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom fields, etc.
  • Installing and configuring common WordPress plugins, such as Gravity Forms
  • General content administration of existing WordPress sites
  • Creation of landing pages optimized for performance
  • Regularly participate in peer review (Code Review) prior to merging code, taking feedback and instruction from other engineers
  • Coordinates product releases across groups
  • Maintains excellent job knowledge of the processes, products, systems, compliance and company information, as well as, continual professional development through personalized training with management, classes, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc

Skills/Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalent professional work experience
  • HTML/CSS (with knowledge of CSS Frameworks, especially Bootstrap)
  • JavaScript, Jquery
  • Experience with PHP a plus, but not required
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL a plus (creating tables, writing queries)
  • 2+ years of experience with WordPress
  • Ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines
  • Experience building consumer-oriented websites with cross-browser compatibility and adaptive design concepts
  • Ability to estimate timelines for upcoming projects
  • Ability to work independently to drive projects to completion with defined deadlines
  • Experience with user interface design and implementation preferred
  • Project Development and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices
