Words matter. Whether you’re writing marketing copy, product content, knowledge bases, or employee handbooks, the goal is the same: to have clear, consistent, and on-brand content that educates, informs and delights your readers. Everybody in an organization writes, but not everyone is a professional writer, nor can they all be expected to write with the same level of consistency, voice, and tone. Qordoba solves this problem by helping teams write clear, consistent, and on-brand content at scale. Companies such as Marriott, Braintree, and Postmates use Qordoba to create better content up to 90% faster than before.
Founded in 2015 and backed by Upfront Ventures and Aspect Ventures, Qordoba is headquartered in the heart of San Francisco. Named one of Forbes’ Cloud 100 Rising Stars in 2018, we are a team of innovative thinkers who are committed to hiring people who demonstrate our company values: Connect, Challenge, Own.
We’re looking for extraordinary colleagues to join us as we help organizations master the content they write.
About the role:
We are looking for an innovative and strategic Director of Product Management who will have a deep partnership with our co-founders, building out our product vision and leading the overall product strategy. Reporting to our co-founders, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to help create an exciting new category in the Content Intelligence space.
You will be responsible for launching new product features, APIs and native partner integrations in support of Qordoba’s mission: to help everyone at a company write with the same style, terminology, and brand voice.
Your day-to-day:
- Your week is a mix of high (strategy), low (the weeds) , and medium (the tactics). What do we mean by this?
- High: (1) Collaborate closely with our co-founders on product vision and market positioning; (2) Lead overall product strategy, defining and communicating the long-term roadmap; and (3) Own the tradeoff calculations for going wider vs going deeper
- Medium: (1) Listen in on sales meetings and work with the marketing team to identify strengths and opportunities of both our product and competing solutions; (2) collaborate with the marketing team on GTM strategy; and (3) go broad enough across our organization to be able to make gut-level decisions on how we balance the needs of existing enterprise customers with new market opportunities
- The weeds: (1) Manage our powerhouse product team of two, a junior product manager and senior product designer; (2) Design, build, and launch features (duh!); and (3) Own the metrics: from onboarding conversion rates to feature utilization rates to who clicks on locked enterprise features and what features are most commonly requested by type of customer: it’s both in your head and in spreadsheets, leaving nothing to chance
About you, the fuzzy stuff:
- It’s in your nature to work hard
- You think out loud via Google Sheets
- You know Jira tickets by number but also how much a new prospect will be paying; you remember these details naturally
- You love the left-brain/right-brain nature of the product management role
- You’re excited to be the first hire that the founders will be entrusting to own product strategy
- You love joining after initial product-market fit and know what it means to be intelligently growing a product’s footprint
- You enjoy thinking about how to make a product indispensable to power users
- You are forceful when you have conviction and data-driven when you don’t
- You’re comfortable shipping to learn, and re-iterating on live features until they are perfect
- You believe that enterprise UX and consumer UX are the same thing
- You understand that onboarding is a product in itself
- You’re ready for an experience that will challenge you
About you, the formal stuff:
- 5+ years of SaaS product management experience
- BA/BS degree and about 10 years of relevant work experience
- Experience aligning an entire internal team around a strategic product roadmap and vision for the market
- Experience evangelizing products and features to customers and prospects
- Experience driving and delivering on the entire product lifecycle, from concepts to mocks to first build to iteration to testing/optimization
- Experience operating in a lean environment with a focus on resourcefulness and urgency
- Strong technical background -- experience working with senior engineers to make large-scale product, infrastructure, and roadmap decisions
- An analytical mindset and great communication and collaboration skills
- Exposure to machine learning / AI is a must
- Experience with microservices and large Kubernetes clusters is a must
