Technical Project Manager

The Role:

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) will collaborate and coordinate with a variety of internal teams in order to efficiently and successfully execute software development projects within ProctorU. Using a solid knowledge of Agile project management and service delivery life cycles, the TPM works closely with the Development team and is tasked with facilitating, organizing, tracking, and completing projects and objectives as determined by our executive management team. Our TPM is also responsible for keeping the project team working toward continuous improvement, removing risks/impediments, and leading communication with stakeholders. 

 
The things you’ll do:   
  • Manage all Scrum Master Ceremonies and Artifacts 
  • Develop efficient work plans for complex projects involving many products and/or groups, and effectively implements and coordinates these plans
  • Track progress of team and effectively motivate them toward goals 
  • Identify, monitor and track key metrics related to various projects and programs for system or process effectiveness and efficiency
  • Communicates ideas and information in a form well suited to, and well received by, the audience 
  • Use risk management techniques to minimize and mitigate issues that could jeopardize the project 
  • Create and maintain project documentation 
  • Participate in all sprint ceremonies 
  • Advocate for and defend the viewpoint of projects to which he/she is committed, as justified 
  • Determines when change in direction are necessary and deals effectively with technological shifts

  • Knowledge and experience with modeling techniques and methods

  • Remove ambiguity and provide as much focus and clarity as possible in dynamic situations 
  • Maintain the highest principles and values and behave consistently within them 
  • Ability to rapidly learn and assimilate complex information involving unfamiliar situations and circumstances 
  • Sufficient confidence to deal with, rather than avoid, tough problems or situations 
  • Is decisive in situations of varying complexity
  • Able and willing to effectively guide and coach others to define all assignments and work problems in terms of results and deadlines to be achieved 
  • Negotiates or mediates debates competently, staying focused on the situation rather than emotions 
  • Understands the dependencies of change and works to build buy-in and minimize negative impacts to others or project timelines
  • Thinks ahead 3-6 months, recognizing trends and driving project plans 
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task to manage more than one project concurrently
  • At least 5 years of direct Project Management experience on increasingly complex projects 
  • Certified Scrum Master is preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in an Agile environment using Scrum and Kanban principles 
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence a plus
